2025 Flood Event 5, Bulletin 3 (Issued December 31, 2025, at 10:30 am; Valid until: January 7, 2026, at 3:00 pm)

Water levels inÌýwatershedÌýstreams and riversÌýhaveÌýpeakedÌýand are now recedingÌýfrom the rainfall and snowmeltÌýrunoffÌýreceived earlier this week.ÌýTheÌýUpperÌýThamesÌýRiver Conservation AuthorityÌý(UTRCA)Ìýexpects waterways to remainÌýelevatedÌýintoÌýnext week.ÌýÌý

With the ongoing holiday break,ÌýresidentsÌýare reminded to use extreme caution near all watercoursesÌýand stay out of all flooded areas.ÌýAs always, do not drive through floodedÌýroadways.ÌýCaregiversÌýare reminded to keep children and pets away from watercoursesÌýand off any frozen water bodies, includingÌýreservoirs.ÌýAny ice cover will be weakened and unstable.ÌýFlood control reservoirs are especially hazardous due to fluctuating water levels.ÌýStream banks can be slippery andÌýunstable,Ìýand the waterÌýisÌýveryÌýcold andÌýfast-moving.ÌýÌý

It is not safe toÌýtake shelter along riverbanks or in low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.ÌýÌý

The UTRCA isÌýoperatingÌýits flood control reservoirsÌýatÌýFanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock Conservation Areas to reduce downstream flooding.Ìý
