Landowner Grants and Stewardship Programs

UTRCA offers funding programs to support projects that improve soil health and water quality. Explore the current funding opportunities below:

Upper Thames River Phosphorus Reduction Program

The Upper Thames River Phosphorus Reduction Program is a four-year program that supports practices that help reduce phosphorus losses including cover crops, reducing tillage, 4R practices, manure management, as well as cost-share rates for a variety of practices.

Clean Water Program

The Clean Water Program (CWP) is a rural water quality initiative that offers technical assistance and cost-share opportunities to help improve and protect water quality on farmland. The program supports landowners and farmers in adopting practices that reduce the impact of agriculture on water systems, ensuring healthier watersheds for future generations.

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program

The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) Marginal Lands Initiative is to create or enhance natural features on marginal agricultural lands to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions, sequester carbon, and increase Ecosystem Goods and Services.

Tree Planting on Private Lands

The 糖心直播 (UTRCA) offers a tree planting program for landowners with a minimum of 1 hectare (2.5 acres) within the Upper Thames River watershed. Grants are available for windbreaks, riparian plantings, land retirement and other naturalization projects.

Farmland Best Management Practices

Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) are cost-effective, practical actions that landowners can take to improve soil health and water quality while maintaining or enhancing agricultural production. The UTRCA has developed a series of fact sheets, including several case studies and videos focusing on a variety of BMPs that differ in form and function.
