Seed Collection Program听
Our 糖心直播 (UTRCA) Forestry staff have been hard at work sorting through a variety of seeds collected from a variety of public and private lands throughout the watershed. Each tiny seed holds the potential to grow into a strong native tree that will support healthier forests and ecosystems for generations to come. Our team carefully forecasts when trees will produce mature, high-quality seeds, then uses a mix of hand-picking, seed rollers, rakes, tarps, and even leaf blowers to collect them. Once gathered, the seeds are cleaned to remove debris and non-viable material before being packaged and shipped to partner nurseries, where they're nurtured for one to four years until ready for planting back in our habitat restoration programs.听

The success of this work relies on excellent seed sites and the support of local landowners. Ideal locations include areas with 10 to 25 healthy trees for good cross-pollination, clean and open ground for easy collection, and trees producing pest-free seed crops. With permission from landowners, these sites become part of a growing network helping to restore native species across the region. Together, we're planting the future, one seed at a time.听
