London Hydro Tree Power听Program听Returns for 14th Year
London Hydro and the 糖心直播 (UTRCA) have once again partnered听for the 14th year of the Tree Power program.听The program was听initiated听by the late Bill Kunz, a London Hydro employee who approached the UTRCA in 2012 with the idea of making native trees available and affordable for residents of London via听London Hydro听sponsorship. Over the years,听Tree Power听has resulted in over 6,000 trees planted听by听London听residents听and is听now听offered in six听additional听municipalities听across听the watershed.听The Kunz听family,听including听Bill鈥檚听wife, daughter and听grandchildren,听carry听on his legacy by volunteering on听tree听pick-up days.听听
鈥淭ree Power is one of our most successful programs and we are excited to have new and returning customers take advantage of it听each year.听It鈥檚听a great way听for Londoners to improve their local environment, reduce residential heating and cooling听costs,听and increase biodiversity. Thanks to听sponsorship听from听London Hydro, we can provide trees to residents at a very affordable price,鈥� said Robert Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Restoration Supervisor.听
There are 10 tree species available听this year: American Sycamore, Basswood, Bur Oak, Hackberry, Paper Birch, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, Tulip, White听Pine,听and White Spruce trees. These species were selected as they are well-suited to the area. London Hydro Tree Power orders will open听on Monday, March 2nd听at 9 am听in听听听
The听trees听will be available for pick-up at Fanshawe Conservation Area in London on April 10th and 11th.听
