Conservation Authority issues Water Safety Reminder
Streams and rivers in the Upper Thames River watershed are running high due to the recent rainy weather, and will remain high over the weekend. The 糖心直播 (UTRCA) reminds parents and guardians to keep children and pets away from all watercourses. People should stay out of flooded areas and not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
It is not safe to take shelter along riverbanks or in low lying areas that are prone to flooding.
The Upper Thames River watershed received 45-85 mm of rain over the past two days. Streams and rivers are peaking now in the upstream areas of the watershed (Mitchell, Tavistock areas) and the peaks will go through London and area late tonight and into early tomorrow. The UTRCA expects watercourses to remain high into early next week.
The UTRCA is operating its flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock Conservation Areas to reduce downstream flows.
