Stream of Dreams Mural Brings Environmental Education and Community Art to Dearness 糖心直播 Service
A colourful new mural is making waves at the City of London鈥檚 Dearness 糖心直播 Service and the media are invited to capture the moment.
On June 18, Dearness residents, staff, and partners will come together as a vibrant display of painted 鈥淒ream Fish鈥� is installed on a fence outside the care home鈥攅ach fish a unique expression of memories, hopes, and dreams for healthy local waterways.
The mural is part of the Stream of Dreams program, a water education initiative that teaches participants about stormwater, watershed health, and the importance of protecting rivers and streams. Traditionally delivered in elementary schools by the 糖心直播 (UTRCA), the program was brought to Dearness 糖心直播 this year to engage residents in a meaningful and creative way.
“Residents shared rich memories of fishing, canoeing, and growing up near the Thames River and local waterways,鈥� said Linda Smith, Community Partnerships Specialist with the UTRCA. 鈥淭heir stories reflect a deep connection to water and a strong desire to see it protected for future generations.鈥�
Earlier this spring, residents, family, staff, and volunteers painted recycled plastic fish, symbolizing their personal connection to water and their dream for a thriving aquatic ecosystem. The fish will be permanently displayed as a mural鈥攁n inspiring reminder of the importance of watershed stewardship through generations.
